Perambalur

    Perambalur is a district headquarters and a taluk and municipality in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The town has a population of over 100,000 and has over 60,000 electorates. Perambalur District came in to existence after trifurcation of Tiruchirappalli district with effect from 30.09.1995.

Geography

Perambalur  is located at 11°14′N 78°53′E / 11.23°N 78.88°E / 11.23; 78.88. It has an average elevation of 143 metres (469 feet).

RAJARAM B. com, who served twice as president Of Elambalur Panchayat from 1986-2001. He also served as Chairman of Perambalur panchayat union from 2001-2006. Today Elambalur panchayat has highest population, and has well developed peoples. SIDCO industrial Estate is situated in this village.

Demographics

    As of 2001 Indian census,[1] Perambalur had a population of 29,698. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Perambalur has an average literacy rate of 78%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 82%, and female literacy is 73%. In Perambalur, 10% of the population is under 6 years of age.
Main religions are Hinduism (87%), Muslim (8%) and others (5%).

Economy

    Developer: GVK Perambalur SEZ Pvt. Ltd. Location: Chennai Area : 4,000 acres (16 km2) Spread over 4,000 acres (16 km2). It is strategically located at the apex of the areo triangle between Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad with the best road, rail and port connectivity. The aerospace ecosystem is also expected to create direct and indirect employment for over 1,00,000 people of aerospace and avionics.

    The aero park will have synergy of the best aerospace & avionics technologies in the world and will be conceived as a Public - Private partnership entity (PPP) with participation from Governments, Public and Private companies.

       Design & Engineering City: 150 - 200 Tier 1 and Tier 2 engineering firms that provide niche solutions to the market. Residential complex for 10,000 engineers.

    Manufactring Center: Local & global sub-systems & component suppliers Materials processing zones, stamping, forging, certification & testing plants.

    Satellite MRO Facility: 250-acre (1.0 km2) facility near the green field airport Run way access R&D Testing Facility: Joint ventures with leading research institutions Virtual Simulation centers, rapid prototyping & manufacturing Infrastructure Support System: International convention center, global residential village, parks & water recycling systems, captive power generation complex, open-air theatre, sports complex, fitness centers and other integrated amenities. The Special Economic Zone (SEZ) planned by SREI Infrastructure Finance Ltd is not taking off presently. SIDCO will soon be setting up an industrial estate at the Elambalur Village, Perambalur Taluk. Approval of a site measuring 44.4 acres (180,000 m2) at Elambalur by the Directorate of Town Planning has been hastened. According to an official release, a total of 113 plots are to be set up in an area of 27.50 acres (111,300 m2). In addition, commercial complexes would be contributed on a site up to a maximum of five cents in area. This proposal was made by M. RAJARAM Ex-chairman, while he was serving as Elambalur president in the year 1999. The city is multi-cultured with people from various states residing there

    The establishment of an MRF Tyre plant on the outskirts of Perambalur has aided in its growth.

Gymkanan Club
    Keeping in mind, sports and games play a vital role for a sound and healthy mind and body, The Gymkana club was started in the year 2001-2002, under Mr. C. Ganesan and Rtn. J. Murugan as the president and secretary, respectively. The noble idea of starting such an indoor club was initiated by Rtn. PHF. J. Aravindan (present secretary), Rtn. PHF. J. Karthik (Present President) and Rtn. G. Babu(Legal Advisor). It is situated in a sprawling area, near Perambalur New Bus Stand and avial excellent facility for playing Shuttle Badminton, Table Tennis, Carom Board, Chess besides a Multi Gym Facility for the aspiring youth to develop their sporting skill and keeping their fitness to the highest level. The club extended its social service to the people when flood havocked Perambalur and the National highway and its wonderful service during the Sunami was praiseworthy. It conducts tournaments at district and State level every year. One of its member Mr. S. Keerthivasan (doing his second year B.Sc Computer Science in Thanthai Hans Roever College, Perambalur) was selected to represent the Tamil Nadu State Team in Shuttle badminton. District Collector Shri. M. Vijayakumar I.A.S and District Superintendent of Police Dr. Mahendira Kumar Rathore play regularly in the club and their presence attracts more youth and Government officials to involve actively in sports and games. The Club stands apart uniquely in maintaining high discipline among its 60 odd members and leads from the front in sports and games activities in Perambalur District.

    Lions Clubs International Lions club of Perambalur is one of the biggest service clubs in India. MJF. Ln. Rajaram. m is the charter president of the club and he was the First President of the club during the year 1984-85. Charter secretary is Ln, Arunachalam. Lions club of perambalur has completed its 26 years of service. Ln Imayavaramban was the silver jubilee year dedicated president. Ln. P. Mani has successfully completed his 26th year presidentship. Now Ln. Gururaj has taken charge as 27th president. Ln. MS. Ramasamy, Ln. Dharmaraj, Ln. Shaik Thawooth, Ln Sathick Basha, Ln Thairium, are the great service oriented past presidents. It has 178 members. It owned a community centre by name Muthukrishna Makkal Manram worth about 20 million Indian Rupees. It contributes funds for heart and eye surgeries to the poor peoples every year.
Rotary International The Rotary Club of Perambalur was started during the year 1972-1973, where Rtn. N. R. Venkataraman was the president and Rtn. S. N. Prasannam was the secretary. For the past 38 years the club has brought together business and professional people to take up all the services and extended locally and internationally. Currently Rtn. PHF. R. Ravichandran is the president and Rtn. S. Vivek is the secretary. Rtn. RHF. Karthik holds the highest responsibility as Assistant District Governor and renders inevitable service to the district development. Many Rotarians to name a few Rtn. PHF. K. N.
